We will be attending the 16th Annual 2008 Raleigh Convention Center Boat Show on January 24 through 27. This year the show will be held at 1300 Buck Jones Rd., Raleigh, due to the convention center being under construction. The show will feature some of North Carolina’s premier boat dealers. Please visit! For more information on this show, log on www.raleighconvention.com/boatshow/.

Our first show, the 18th Annual Bass & Saltwater Fishing Expo, was a success. The show is said to be “The largest fishing show in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia”. It was Larry Gillikin’s, our new salesperson’s, first show. The days attending a show are long, but meeting new friends is always a pleasure.

If you are unable to attend the Raleigh show, or nowhere near the Raleigh area, we hope you will visit us at Town Creek Marina in Beaufort, North Carolina. We will be happy to take you out on a sea trial, or test drive, with one of our popular catamarans; either World Cat or Twin Vee. If you have never taken a ride on a catamaran boat, you will be amazed at the quality of the ride. Please call 877.588.8634 to arrange a fun day.

The Sandbar happily welcomes Chef Maria Costa back to our restaurant. We are planning a wonderful new menu for our 10 year anniversary, and look forward to serving you on your visit to Town Creek Marina. Maria hopes that old friends and new friends will drop by and say hello.

The Staff at Town Creek Marina looks forward to your visit this spring.

Town Creek Marina introduces Everglades Boats by Dougherty, once again, to our waters in Beaufort. Lisa Alley, and the sales staff at Town Creek Marina, are excited about introducing the new Everglades at the upcoming Raleigh Boat Shows.

Everglades Boats, objective is to build versatile family-friendly fishing boats ideally designed for inshore and offshore waters alike. Before Everglades boats was founded, under RJ Dougherty & Associates, CEO Bob Dougherty and President Stephen Dougherty started building windshields and small parts for EdgeWater PowerBoats and Boston Whaler. The Dougherty’s eventually extended the use of the RAMCAP-based hard top process to other parts building and finally to their first boat: the EdgeWater 14, winner of the 1999 NMMA Innovation Award.

Everglades Boats successfully launched its flats boats and V-hull bay boats lines over the last few years winning again the 2002 NMMA Innovation Award for its line of flats boats using RAMCAP.

This year, Everglades Boats introduced another innovation award-winner., the new Everglades 290 Pilot. The Pilot is the first in an upcoming line of high-end offshore family fishing boats. It received top honors at the 2005 NMMA Innovation Awards in Miami, sole winner in the Fishing Boats category for innovative achievement.

“We are proud to be adding Everglades Boats designed by Daugherty. The great thing about Everglades Boats is that they are some of the most recognized and successful boats on the market, mainly due to their full line of versatile family fishing boats. Our customers tell us that versatility is something they really want. Everglades is the kind of high quality boat that fits nicely with our World Cats and Twin Vees,” states Lisa Alley, Sales Manager of Town Creek Marina.

Larry Gillikin loves boats. All boats. And, he has fished all over North Carolina in nearly every size boat – from a 12” John to a Head Boat. He loves the outdoors, and he loves to fish.

A native of Beaufort, Larry grew up in Carteret County waters. He skied in Taylor’s Creek, ran offshore charters from the Carolina coast, and will fish any tournament when given the opportunity.

He started an electronics business at 22, sold it, and left Beaufort to work in Norfolk, when he was still a younger man. He did intercoastal runs on a Tug. He moved back to Beaufort in the 80’s and worked again in electronics and service. Larry also purchased a business in ’85, and spent a few years managing the Curtis Mathis franchise in Sanford.

“I have been working in electronics sales for years, and always stayed indoors – excluding the trips for in-home installations. Owning the store in Sanford was the right thing at the time, but I always came home to keep my feet wet.”

“I really enjoy being outdoors. The position in Sales at Town Creek really appeals to me. Television and Video are inside sales, so I am going to love being on a boat and being outdoors.”

In 1999, Larry obtained his United States Coast Guard Captain’s License.

Larry and his wife Laura have two married daughters and three grandchildren. Their oldest 8-year-old grandson is an avid hunter and fisherman. “We enjoy our time on the water together. Granddad’s new job is going to be a lot of fun. For both of us.”

North America’s largest builder of power catamarans, Twin Vee, has rolled into the lot of Town Creek Marina. Catamarans are excellent choices for Carolina’s offshore fishing waters. They provide a smooth ride in even the roughest circumstances.

Twin Vee’s design philosophy is affordable power catamarans. If you want performance, strength, durability, comfort, economy and dependability all in one package, then choose an affordable Twin Vee.

At Twin Vee, the planing catamaran hull offers the most complete package of benefits. The advantages of a softer and dryer ride in heavy seas and chop is very important. Twin Vee developed a super strong hull and, because of it’s design prowess in weight and balance, was able to create these features in a catamaran that was also fast. These catamarans have the ocean going capability going through four to five feet chop at high speeds.

The boat buying public has been kept in the dark about the importance of hull design. Twin Vee is a manufacturer that can be trusted to fully understand the issue surrounding hull performance and testing. It is proud of it’s pioneering development of the best small boat hulls in the world today.

“The dedication of Twin Vee to hull designs is the reason that Twin Vee has develops strong customer loyalty in the world’s biggest waters,” says Lisa Alley, Town Creek’s Sales Manager. “Their Single engine performance on small boats has become a industry standard.” Lisa Alley, Sales Manager, of Town Creek Marina states, “Twin Vee builds some of the finest boats. Our customers can have the most enjoyable boating experience at an affordable price.” Contact Town Creek Marina to take a ride on a catamaran at 877.347.4869, or go to www.towncreekmarina.com.
